I was watching Rocky Balboa the other night and it was intriguing the part I cut in on.. Rocky was talking to his son and he said this..”Son, let me tell you something you already know… the world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows, its a nasty place, and I don’t care how tough you are, it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. Nobody is going to hit as hard as life, but it ain’t about how hard you hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep going forward. Its about how much you can take a keep moving forward, that’s how winning is done. If you know what your worth go out and get it, but don’t go pointing fingers and blaming others when things don’t go how you want”
This one scene had me hooked on the whole movie.. Sometimes, doesn’t it feel like that.. Life is just a big ring and we all have to step in at some point and just fight it out.. Sometimes we feel like we are sitting over in the corner trying to recuperate for another day, another round and sometimes we are up and at it and we are winning the fight and sometimes we are down on the floor of the ring with the referee counting to 10 thinking about if we will recover or not.. Sometimes, just sometimes.. Life feels like that.. for me.
As we conclude the wisdom of the proverbs I am reminded of that.. we are talking about proverbs 3:5-6 … talking about “trusting in the Lord, with all your heart, and leaning not on your own understanding, but in all your ways acknowledging Him, knowing He will direct your path. ”
When you compare this scripture with the statement I made at the beginning of this blog, of course it makes no sense.. but oh it does.. This proverb is about life.. It is there to give us wisdom for everyday living. When we talk about leaning not on our own understanding… What is our own understanding? It is the way we normally see things.. The way our mind would normally go. You know sometimes you draw your own conclusions like me, when a certain situation happens and you reason it out to be one way when later you find out it wasn’t that way at all. That’s what we do every day, some of us don’t do it on purpose but it happens never the less, we see things from the lens of our own experience and not from a higher perspective, so when we get hit really hard and knocked down and the referee is counting and we are thinking about a come up.. We reason it out in a way that totally will get us knocked down again.. But in All Our ways. Phew, there’s no space left for error in all is there.. We are to acknowledge that it is God who has us here and it is Him who can lift us up.. It is total dependency, whether down or up, in or out.. We know if we acknowledge Him He will take the time to lead us in the right way everytime
