“Now when Jesus came into the district of Caesarea Philippi, He Asked His disciples ‘Who do people say that the Son of Man is?”
vs 14 says “And they said, “Some say John the baptist, others say Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”
This is a very interesting question Jesus decides to Ask His Disciples in a very particular place.
In this time He was entering a place known for Idol Worship. Let’s take a side bar there.. wonder why the bible took time to mention Caesarea Philippi in this text, because nothing is coincidental, this is the place where all the greek gods were worshiped, Baal, Pan and even Herod wanted to be worshiped and knowing the place He was entering He wanted to know one thing….
“What’s been influencing you my followers?” The ones who had been walking with Him every day had certainly been hearing the opinion of the people around them. As quiet as kept we all hear the opinions and see the idol worship in our own country today, and we neglect the power of influence sometimes and how it is that just as the world may use it’s power for influence against us we may use our relationship with God to work for us and influence them.
Today be mindful of the influences around you and realize what they are, then evaluate who you yourself are following!
